Top Five Mistakes Mothers Make and How to Avoid Them

A mother plays a vital role in her child's life. She not only provides her child with love, care and confidence but also encourages him to be successful. Like a life coach she watches over his activities and the choices he makes to enable him to tell right from wrong.

Mothers can also make mistakes that can influence the lives of their children more than they realise. Here are some common mistakes made by mothers and some tips on how to avoid them.

Tip 1: Inability to strike a balance: Often mothers fail to keep a balance between restraint and freedom. No doubt, children need guidance and coaching but mothers often create complications by being either too strict or too permissive. Considerate limitations ensure appropriate control over a child's life without harm.

Tip 2: Too much pressure: Children feel the pressure to perform according to the approval or disapproval of their parents. To relieve some of the pressure it is better to train a child to enjoy the process of growing up and learning. It will make the child's attitude positive and give him the confidence to face difficulties.

Tip 3: Making your child irresponsible: Many mothers do not teach their children to take responsibility. Over protective mothers spoil their children. Children must learn to take responsibility of their actions and make amendments to their wrongs.

Tip 4: Talking negatively about children in their presence: Mothers should not say anything negative about their children because they internalise the negative opinion and believe this about themselves for a long time. They should show care and be positive while pointing out mistakes. Mothers should always tell their children how much they love them.

Tip 5: Not reading to children: Many mothers make the mistake of not reading to their children often enough. No matter how occupied or tired mothers are, they should find time to read to their children. It fosters their imagination and it is the easiest way to spend some wonderful time together.

Mothers can make a big difference in the lives of their children by avoiding these mistakes. Children need their mother's love and care more than anything else, the efforts made with children when they are very young go a long way to building their sense of self-confidence, self-esteem and generally make them into positive, well-rounded individuals.
